About me

Hello! I’m Mikael and I am a Systemic, Family and Couple Psychotherapist. I was born and raised in Sweden and have lived in the UK and London since 2008. I have over 16 years of experience in working therapeutically in different roles with families, couples, and individuals with a wide range of struggles and psychological and emotional problems in both Sweden and in the UK.

I have worked in different contexts providing individual therapy, couples therapy and family therapy in local authorities and NHS. I am presently employed in NHS in a clinical leadership role and in addition to that I have my small private practice specialising in working with couples.

I have chosen to solely focus my private practice on working with couples as my clinical training has given me specialist training in couples therapy. I have extensive experience of undertaking couples therapy and I find working with couples and relationship dynamics very rewarding. Changes in relationships impacts not only the couple, but also everyone around them like children and the extended family.

Being human is both hard and wonderful and various challenges are part of that, couples do not always know how to cope and manage and can get stuck without support and inspiration from others. I do not work as an expert providing the answers. However, I do bring my knowledge and experiences as a collaborative therapist who values and respects who my clients are and their wisdom. We will work together to support you as a couple developing more capacity to feel the hard things and address stress, conflicts, disagreements, anxiety, and sadness.

Our work together will be of empathy, curiosity, compassion, and overtime trust. I will listen, ask questions, make some statements and there will be laughter and some tears. I will also challenge you as individuals and as a couple in ways that helps you grow and develop. All conversations and correspondence we have are confidential.

I offer online couples therapy via Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
