Supervision

I have experience of providing individual and group supervision to qualified and experienced professionals from different backgrounds, for example Systemic Social Workers, Counsellors, Psychotherapists, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists, Family and Systemic Psychotherapists as well as students and trainees in these fields.

I have extensive experience of facilitating group consultation, group reflection and group supervision in agency settings and professional and personal development groups. I have also supervised family therapy clinics in statutory services for many years and I have many years experience of working within local authority children’s service and CAMHS.

My overall approach to supervision is systemic and relational, I am partly informed by Hawkins and Shoet’s Seven Eyed Model and Holloway’s Systems Model. I am experienced in supervising professionals working from a variety of different modalities and with different clients groups.

I am on the UKCP specialist children and adolescent register and have extensive experience of working with children and adolescents as well as supervising professionals working in that area.

I have also completed a UCKP accredited advanced clinical diploma in the supervision of Psychotherapy.

As a supervisor I believe in exploring and drawing strength and inspiration from the intersection of the professional and the personal of my supervisees. This facilitates the growth and development of my supervisees’ clinical and professional competencies in a process of validation, encouragement and gentle challenge. Equally important is to give the self-of-the-therapist adequate time and focus, for example to discuss and explore the impact of working with complex and challenging issues and the impact of meeting client’s distress and suffering.

A systemic and relational approach to supervision also considers the client-therapist and supervisee-supervisor relationship in addition to the myriad of other relationships that often are relevant, as supervision is located and embedded in the rich and complex matrix of therapeutic, professional and personal relationships.

I believe that finding a good supervisor and establishing a trusting relationship with a supervisor is of profound importance for every therapist. It’s important to take time with this and consider carefully what is important for you in your supervision and who might fit you and your needs.

If you are a professional looking for clinical supervision and would like to explore if we are a good fit, I offer a 30 min online meeting for free.

This meeting gives us the opportunity to have conversations about your practice, what you are seeking from a supervisor, ask me questions and for me to share some of my supervisory philosophy, style and approach.

I encourage potential supervisees to initially contract for three slots of supervision and then for us to explore how that has been experienced and how it has been working so far, before contracting for a longer period or ending.

I can offer monthly supervision slots of 60 min, additionally the option is also available to have a monthly 90 min supervision slots.

Currently I only offer online supervision via Zoom or Microsoft Teams evening time.

•60 min supervision slots: £70
•90 min supervision slots: £90
